Coldplay's rain-soaked 2009 performance in Abu Dhabi has gone down in history as one of the country's greatest concerts, and now, the British band is gearing up to outdo itself. The group's record-breaking Music of the Spheres World Tour will make a stop at Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi on 11, 12 and 14 January 2025. Formed in London in 1996 the group is led by vocalist Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, and drummer Will Champion. The band gained global recognition with their 2000 debut album Parachutes, which featured the hit single "Yellow" and showcased their knack for blending melodic soundscapes with heartfelt lyrics.
The band's ability to evolve their sound, blending rock with electronic and pop elements, has kept them relevant over the years. Tracks such as "Adventure of a Lifetime," "Clocks," Fix You," "Paradise," and "Viva La Vida" have become anthems, propelling them to global stardom.
The Music of the Spheres World Tour began on 18 March 2022 in San José, Costa Rica, and will finish in London, United Kingdom on 31 August 2025. The tour has sold more than 10 million tickets across 164 dates, making it the highest-grossing and most-attended tour ever.
Coldplay's concerts are immersive experiences known for dazzling light shows, fireworks and LED wristbands. Chris Martin explained that each show is divided into four acts to represent "a journey travelling outwards into the unknown and then coming home having learned something new." In addition to performing new singles "feelslikeimfallinginlove" and "We Pray from their forthcoming release Moon Music, which drops this October, the group will also feature iconic anthems from their extensive catalogue.
Tickets to see Coldplay in Abu Dhabi are expected to sell out extremely fast, so set your alarms. Coldplay pre-sale begins on Wednesday, 25 September at 12pm via www.coldplay.com.
