The family-friendly new show runs from 12 October to 3 December.

Roll up, roll up. The world-famous Cirque du Soleil is swinging into Saudi Arabia. This is your chance to catch the circus troupe’s new fun-filled show OVO, as it makes its way to Riyadh.

Cirque du Soleil’s OVO runs from 12 October until 3 December, and promises to be a family-friendly show. The Canadian entertainment company is famous for its spectacular shows, which include dazzling costumes, elaborate sets and death-defying stunts.

OVO tells the story of insects – Cirque-style – as it brings to life ants, spiders, crickets and dragons through music and dance. Ovo itself means egg in Portuguese and reflects the show’s eco-system narrative – flying dragons, anyone?

This is not the first time that Cirque du Soleil has come to Saudi Arabia. After the group signed a deal with Saudi’s Ministry of Culture, it has performed many times in the kingdom. Previous shows include Fuzion at Jeddah Season and Messi 10 at Riyadh Season, which was a tribute to the Argentinian footballer Lionel Messi.

Cirque du Soleil started life in 1984 by the street performers Guy Laliberté and Gilles Ste-Croix. Over the years, the company has produced Las Vegas shows including The Beatles Love and Michael Jackson: One. Plus, Cirque du Soleil has won multiple accolades, from seven Primetime Emmy Awards to a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
