Watch spectacular screenings of classic films with a live orchestra.

Do you know Hedwig’s Theme from The Imperial March? Well, if those titles mean anything to you, you’ll be excited to hear about Riyadh Film Music Festival. The event brings together spectacular soundtracks from Harry Potter, Star Wars and video games. The concerts take place at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University and runs from 7 to 14 July. 

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone In Concert runs from 13 to 14 July. The film is screened in high-definition and accompanied by a live symphony orchestra. James Horner was originally approached to compose the score, but he turned down the opportunity. The score was then composed and conducted by John Williams, and it was nominated for Best Original Score at the Academy Awards.

Star Wars: A New Hope runs from 10 to 11 July. The film is also screened in high definition, and accompanied by a live symphony orchestra. Steven Spielberg recommended John Williams to George Lucas, and he was originally hired to consult on the soundtrack. He went on to become the composer and conductor, and created classics from the Cantina Band to Princess Leia’s Theme.

Game On takes place from 7 to 8 July. Video games will be projected onto the big screen, and it will be accompanied by musical scores performed by an orchestra. The games include Assassin’s Creed, Bioshock, League of Legends, Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds, and World of Warcraft.

Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University is located in the north of Riyadh. The university was founded in 1970, and regularly hosts cultural events. Tickets for the concerts start from SAR 100.
