The project plans to house the world’s tallest building.
Saudi Arabia is filled with ambition. The Kingdom is home to megaprojects from Neom to the Red Sea. Now, Saudi Arabia Holding Co. has announced The North Pole project, which is described as a city of the future.
Saudi Arabia Holding Co. CEO Mohammed AlQahtani shared the North Pole megaproject’s plans. Located in the north of Riyadh, it aims to include the world’s tallest building. Rise Tower looks set to be a slim, sleek structure pointing straight into the sky.

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) has launched the bidding process for the $5 billion megatall tower project, poised to become the tallest structure in the world. Rising to an astonishing two kilometers, this architectural marvel will serve as the centerpiece of a new central business district on the outskirts of Riyadh, aligning with the Kingdom’s ambitious Vision 2030 initiative.
Designed by the esteemed Foster + Partners, the record-breaking skyscraper will dwarf Dubai’s Burj Khalifa (828 meters) and even surpass the under-construction Jeddah Tower (1,000 meters). With an estimated cost of around $5 billion, the final budget will depend on the ultimate design.

The North Pole megaproject focuses on connectivity and sustainability. The site will include bike lanes, pathways, pedestrian-friendly streets and access to nature. Plus, it will boast green credentials and be powered by solar energy as well as renewable sources.
The North Pole sounds like something straight out of a science fiction film, as it will feature air taxis and vertical living. The urban living space will create homes as well as offices. The state-of-the-art transport system will include autonomous vehicles and high-speed underground transport.

AlQahtani explained: “The North Pole project seamlessly blends modernity with the beauty of nature, delivering a unique living experience. The project is poised to usher in a remarkable transformation, redefining the region’s economic and social landscape. Anticipated to generate new job opportunities, attract foreign investments, and elevate living standards, this visionary project aims to elevate Riyadh’s global standing as a modern metropolis.”

The opening date for The North Pole has not yet been confirmed.
