Sunak’s office issued a statement, which explained: “The Prime Minister and Crown Prince said they would continue working closely together to progress UK-Saudi cooperation and looked forward to meeting in person at the earliest opportunity.”

The British Prime Minister also highlighted Saudi Arabia’s role on the world stage. The Kingdom recently held talks in Jeddah on the war in Ukraine, and the leaders agreed on the importance of allies working together to end the conflict.

Sunak reiterated the UK’s long-standing commitment to support Saudi Arabia’s security and regional stability. He shared that they would continue working closely together to progress UK-Saudi cooperation and looked forward to the upcoming meeting.

It is believed that the British government wants to restore stronger diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia. When HH Prince Mohammed bin Salman does visit the United Kingdom, it is also believed that he could meet with King Charles III. If he does accept the invitation, it would be his first visit in five years.
