Mark your calendars — he’ll take the stage on Sunday, 24 September.

We may be in the midst of a slow, scorching-hot summer (hello, 50ºC), but rest assured, our patience will be rewarded come September — both Indian multihyphenate Farhan Akhtar and Bollywood icon Asha Bhosle are confirmed to perform at Coca-Cola Arena. Now, Indian comedian and TV host Kapil Sharma has joined the line-up, and he’s set to take the stage on 24 September. Kapil Sharma Live will feature him and a famous comedy superstar squad.

Fresh off his US and UK tours, Sharma is expected to bring his signature sense of humour, impeccable timing, and down-to-earth persona, all of which have not only made him a household name in India, but also earned him multiple Indian Television Academy Awards. Incidentally, Sharma has also acted in several Bollywood films, Firangi and Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon included.

For the uninitiated, Sharma rose to fame after winning the comedy reality television show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge in 2007 and went on to win a whopping six seasons of Comedy Circus. In 2013, he launched his own show, Comedy Nights with Kapil, and started touring around the world. Apart from his illustrious career in Bollywood and on TV, Sharma also has a melodious voice and is known to burst into song during his sets. Commenting on his upcoming show, he said, “Dubai is a special place for us performers as we get to meet and interact with the entire Asian diaspora. Laughter has no borders, and I am looking forward to sharing an evening of dhamaal [fun] with all my fans at Coca-Cola Arena.”

The event is conceptualised, designed and promoted by Navin Rishi and his company, Speed Entertainment. Rishi is credited for successfully orchestrating many high-profile events within the entertainment, hospitality and sports management domain in India, Canada, and the UAE. “Kapil Sharma is known for his razor-sharp wit and slapstick humour,” says Rishi. “Add to that his fabulous team and you have a recipe for a night of hilarious fun. Expect the unexpected!” Early bird tickets start from AED 98 and are available via Platinumlist.
