Are your favourite players heading to the capital?

Calling all tennis fans. Hold onto your racquets and turn because the World Tennis League (WTL) is back with a bang for season three in Abu Dhabi. Taking place from 19 to 22 December at Etihad Arena, the World Tennis League 2024 promises to be bigger and better than ever before. Described as “The Greatest Show on Court,” the lineup is set to impress with tennis superstars from across the globe. These 16 players will be divided into four teams, battling it out on the court.

First up is Team Eagles. This will see Mirra Andreeva, hailing from Russia who’s known for becoming one of the youngest players to reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam at Wimbledon 2023. Andrey Rublev, also from Russia, along with America’s Sofia Kenin — who won the 2020 Australian Open — and Daniil Medvedev, who clinched the US Open title in 2021, will join the team.

Falcons will bring 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan, Romanian star Sorana Cirstea, India’s Sumit Nagal and American tennis player Taylor Fritz together as part of one team.

The Hawks will feature Norwegian tennis sensation Casper Ruud, who made it to the finals of the US Open 2022 and the French Open, Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz who won the 2021 Miami Open and Iga Swiatek, with multiple Grand Slam titles under her belt and France’s Caroline Garcia.

And lastly, Kites will comprise US Open champion, Aryna Sabalenka, hailing from Belarus, Paula Badosa from Spain, Bulgarian tennis star Grigor Dimitrov and Stefanos Tsitsipas from Greece.

While these players are sure to add excitement to the court, the World Tennis League is hitting it out of the park on the musical front as well. Bryan Adams will open the tournament, followed by performances by Anastacia, Akon, and Sean Paul.

Tickets for the matches are not live yet but stay tuned at FACT for all the updates.
