The sporting event takes place on 30 January.

Riyadh Season is filled with exciting events. Whether you’re after family fun or food experiences, there’s something for everyone. So much so, the festival has announced UFC’s Power Slap, which is taking place on Thursday, 30 January at ANB Arena in Riyadh.

UFC has solidified its partnership with Riyadh Season, and its commitment to hosting sporting events in Saudi Arabia. Now, under the new agreement, Power Slap is coming to the Kingdom for the first time.

If you’ve never heard of Power Slap, the clue is in the name. The event sees two contestants battle it out through the form of a slap – a powerful one, no less. Participants must be aged 18 years old or above, and the match cannot exceed 10 rounds. Safety protection includes mouth guards and inner ear protectors.

Power Slap tournaments begin with a coin toss, which determines who strikes first. The slap must be flat, open-handed and strike the side of the hand. The striker must have both feet on the ground, and a minor lift is deemed a foul. If the defender is knocked down, the referee will count to 10. During this period, they must rise to their feet within the count. Otherwise, it is a knockout.

Power Slap 11’s main event features a high-stakes rematch between slap-fighting titans. Reigning Super Heavyweight Champion Da Crazy Hawaiian (15-1-1, 13 KOs) will face No. 1-ranked contender Dumpling (1-0-1, 1 KO) to settle their rivalry following a dramatic draw at Power Slap 9. Da Crazy Hawaiian, known for dominant victories over Danie van Heerden and Kalani Vakameilalo, looks to reaffirm his supremacy. Meanwhile, Dumpling seeks to deliver another highlight-reel knockout, showcasing why his explosive style inspired Power Slap founder Dana White to launch the sport.

In the co-main event, Light Heavyweight Champion Wolverine (14-5, 5 KOs) puts his undefeated streak in the division on the line against rising star Vern “The Mechanic” Cathey (5-2, 4 KOs). Wolverine, one of the sport’s most iconic figures, will defend his belt for the third time. Cathey, who trained under Wolverine during Power Slap: Road to the Title, is on a three-fight knockout streak and boasts some of the most powerful slaps in the sport’s history.

Riyadh Season 2024 began on 12 October. This year’s edition will bring the best arts, culture, entertainment and sport. Expect boxing and tennis matches, celebrity chefs, and world-class concerts. The new additions include a Harry Potter Experience and the Christian Dior, The Designer of Dreams exhibition.

The full Power Slap 11 card and ticket information will be announced in the coming weeks.
