The event will take place in Riyadh’s Mayadeen Theatre.
Saudi Arabia is upping up the ante when it comes to hosting some of the biggest events in the world. And while the 2034 FIFA World Cup might still be years away, Riyadh’s leaving no stone unturned in the world of sports and gearing up for the Battle of the Giants MMA fight.
Battle of the Giants: Brace for Impact will take place at Mayadeen in Riyadh on Saturday, 19 October. In the capital, Francis Ngannou and Renan Ferriera will compete to take the title home.
Francis Ngannou — popularly known as The Predator — hails from Cameroon and moved to France in his 20s to pursue boxing professionally. While he’s now signed with the Professional Fighters League (PFL), he was famous for having the most powerful punch in UFC’s heavyweight division. He’s won 17 of his 20 fights and the upcoming one with Renan Ferriera is much-awaited.
On the other hand, Renan Ferriera is a Brazilian MMA fighter, who started training in Jiu-jitsu for underprivileged kids and soon he moved to Rio and started training at a gym where icons such as twins, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, and Jacare Souza. Since then he’s won 13 out of 19 fights he’s participated in, including the 2023 PFL Heavyweight Championship.
While Francis Ngannou has frequented Riyadh, this will be Renan Ferreira’s first time in the Kingdom – promising to be a nail-biting fight. Other bouts as part of the championship include a women’s fight featuring Cris Cyborg and Larissa Pacheco.
Battle of the Giants is a great addition to Saudi Arabia’s roster of hosting some of the biggest MMA fights in the region. The capital will also see IV Crown Showdown to kick off the Riyadh Season 2024, which is sure to get fight fans excited. These events also align with Saudi Vision 2030 which aims to establish the Kingdom as a global hub for all things entertainment.
