Saudi Arabia has shared its masterplans for Expo 2030 Riyadh, and it looks set to be spectacular. The event is scheduled to take place between 1 October, 2030 to 31 March, 2031. The theme is The Era of Change: Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow, and here’s how the event is progressing. 

Expo 2030 Riyadh marks the second time a city in the Middle East has hosted the event. In 2021, it was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The event brings together countries from around the globe and aims to provide solutions to the world’s biggest challenges.

The Saudi delegation provided updates on its masterplan, which included its themes and visuals.  Abdulaziz Alghannam, Senior General Director of Expo 2030 Riyadh, highlighted the milestones achieved since the Kingdom’s successful bid.

Alghannam explained: “Remarkable progress has been made on the journey to 2030. The City Readiness program has been launched, and we are evaluating Riyadh’s capacity to ensure the necessary investments are in place”.

Ghida Al Shibl, a Senior Official in Expo 2030 Riyadh, shared information on the theme development. Ghida explained: “Our overarching theme, Foresight for Tomorrow encapsulates three vital subthemes: Transformational Technology, Sustainable Solutions, and Prosperous People. These subthemes aim to inspire meaningful action and foster global collaboration.”

Expo 2030 Riyadh’s site will span a six-million-square metres site, and include a gated event area of two million square metres. The site will feature five themed zones, more than 200 pavilions, and entertainment areas. Plus, the innovative layouts prioritise flexibility and a sustainable infrastructure.
